2023: Postpone elections until National dialogue is held, NDC tells FG, INEC

The Niger Delta Congress, NDC, has called on the Federal Government and the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC to postpone all activities leading to the 2023 general elections immediately, until a National dialogue is held to determine the unity of the country, with a truly people - crafted constitution as the basis.

Recall that the NDC had on Saturday April 23, 2022, unveiled the Niger Delta People's Charter in Warri, Delta State, as part of its strategies to actualize self - determination and resource control, vowing to begin enforcement of the charter after series of town hall  meetings to be held across the oil and gas - rich Niger Delta region.

National President of Niger Delta Congress, NDC, Comrade Nubari Sataah,,in a statement released Sunday May 15, expressed anger that none of the bills so far passed by the National Assembly, captured the, " critical issue of resource control ", despite NDC's  recommendations to  the National Assembly to that effect, in  the ongoing constitutional review.

Comrade Sataah, posited that a conference of indigenes of  Southern Nigeria and  their counterparts from Middle Belt ( North Central Geopolitical Zone) should be held as soon as possible, to harmonize positions and strengthen the relationship between both geopolitical zones," in the light of Nigeria's current trajectory."

" NDC, will immediately commence the planned town hall meetings across the Niger Delta, to sensitize and mobilize our people, towards implementing the consensus agreed in the Niger Delta People's charter and  prepare for the emerging challenges confronting us," Comrade Sataah, stressed.
