The Member Representing Warri South Constituency II in Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Matthew Poko Opuoru, has won the PDP primary to fly the party's flag for the constituency in the 2023 general elections, polling 10 votes compared to his closest rival, Dr. Michael Tidi, who garnered 6 votes.
Your Soaring International Tabloid, can authoritatively report that the primary which held at Ojojo Primary School in the heart of Warri, today, Sunday May 22, saw Emuobo Judith Bazunu polling 4 votes to emerge second runner up, while the other two aspirants; Linda Eya Ikpuri and Presley Okokie Esq.,recorded no vote in the collegiate election, which featured 20 delegates.
The Returning Officer, Mr. Charles Ehiedu Aniagwu, who announced the result in the presence of an INEC Official, Mr. Kingsley Ogboe, agents of the contestants and press men that covered the primary, commended the delegates, agents of the contestants and the press for their cooperation and gave God the glory for a peaceful process.

Hon. Opuoru, who addressed newsmen at the venue, expressed, " special thanks to Almighty God and Delta State Governor, His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa for providing an atmosphere for peaceful election. I came, saw and conquer, I will do my best to reach other aspirants, it shows I am a grassroots man."
Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area and first runner up in the primary, Dr. Michael Tidi, in a telephone interview, thanked his supporters for standing by him before and during the primary, saying his resolve to provide quality leadership to people of Warri South Local Government Area, remains on course.
This Newspaper understands that the incumbent member representing Warri South Constituency 1 in Delta State House of Assembly and former Transition Committee Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Dr. Augustine Uroye, polled 10 votes to narrowly defeat ex two - term Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema to pick PDP ticket for Warri South Constituency 1 ahead of the 2023 polls. Hon. Edema, the only contender to Hon. Uroye, garnered 8 votes out of the 18 delegates that voted in the primary.
The story was not different in Warri North and Warri South - West Constituencies, as the incumbent members representing both constituencies, Hon. Fred Martins and Hon. Emomotimi Dennis Guwor, respectively, won the PDP tickets.
Hon. Fred Martins, reportedly scored 25 votes to defeat Orode Uduaghan, daughter of immediate past Delta State Governor, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan. Orode polled 7 votes as against the 25 votes reportedly gotten by Hon. Martins.
