KVI hosts maiden  pronouncing Bee Competition  in  Delta  as 11-year old Emmanuel Ometan, emerges winner

The first - ever pronouncing Bee competition in Delta State, was on Wednesday May 25 organized in Warri by the  Keystar Vocal International, KVI, a center for speech Arts and Personality Development.

 

Our Senior Correspondent, reports that the competition which held at Federal Government College Warri, produced an 11-year old  primary 6 pupil, Emmanuel  Tsolayemi Ometan of Staff Nursery and Primary School, SNAPS, Federal Government College Warri  as winner, going home with hundred thousand naira.

The Chief Executive Officer, CEO and Coordinator, Association of Diction Coaches of Nigeria, ADCN, Delta State Chapter, Elnathan Obeego, who organized the competition, explained that the aim and focus was  to create an environment where young ones can speak good English, pronounce the right sounds to words as well as understand educational values.

 

Obeego, reiterated the determination of the group to encourage pronouncing and enunciation by pupils and students.

 

He decried the low level of support towards educational issues in Warri and other parts of Delta State, a situation he described as alarming experience.

 

While announcing that the next competition will hold in Oyo State, Obeego expressed optimism that with proper orientation and continuous advocacy, involving people in the relevant authority, value would be added to educational advancement, especially in the pronouncing bee. 

 

According to him, KVI is committed to raising eloquent speakers in the society, including students, adults, media practitioners and corporate organizations, with the target of bringing out the best in them as regards the passion of pronouncing.

The National Financial Secretary for the Association of Diction Coaches of Nigerial, ADCN, Mrs. Jacinta Ojugbeli, noted that encouraging good pronunciation to curtail mannerism, was central to the goals of the body, assuring that they are gradually eradicating speaking mannerism among pupils, students as well as adults in the country.

 

Fresh Angle International can report that Precious Nyerhovwo, a primary 4 pupil from SNAPS, Warri won the second position with a cash gift of sixty thousand naira, while Joseph Okorefe of St. Cyprian International, Ekpan in Uvwie Local Government Area, came third and went home  with forty thousand naira.

Some school owners, parents and the three winners, expressed joy and commended the organizers, KVI for organizing the competition, calling on more schools to participate in the next edition, so as to advance their knowledge and expose them to their peers in learning.  

 

Staff Nursery and Primary School, St. Cyprian International School, Ekpan, The Pearls School, Divine Seed International School, Ubeji, Warri and others participated in the pronunciation Bee.
