Olusola Oke, Kayode, others join Ondo guber race
Olusola Oke

Five aspirants have so far picked expression of interest forms to vie for the October 20 governorship election in Ondo State under the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Fresh Angle checks reveal.

This is just as the immediate past National Legal Adviser of the party, Chief Olusola Oke declared his intention to vie for the guber race in a thanksgiving service at Igbokoda.

There are also strong indications that former Minister of Defence, Prince Adetokunbo Kayode, may join the race for Alagbaka Government House.

Fresh Angle Akure Correspondent reports that already former military administrator of Akwa Ibom State, Navy Capt. Joseph Adeusi (Rtd), former Head of Service, Com. Alaba Isijola, former Speaker, Ondo State House of Assembly, Hon. Victor Olabimtan, Prince Niran Oladunni and Dr Dare Bada are some of the heavy weights that have so far picked expression of interest forms.

The State PDP chairman, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi recently assured that all aspirants will be given a level-playing field, maintaining that the party does not have a preferred candidate.
According to him, “we are going to produce a very credible candidate and running mate for our party.”

Meanwhile, the state PDP has set up reconciliation committee to bring back aggrieved members into the mainstream.

Speaking with newsmen at the just-concluded visit of the South West PDP led by the National Vice Chairman, South West, Chief Segun Oni, to Akure, the State capital, the state chairman, Mr. Ebenezer Alabi, said the party has resolved to put the past behind it.

Mr. Alabidi spelled rumours that the party would form alliance with other political parties, maintaining that it would present its own governorship candidate and running mate. His words, “there is no alliance at all. I am surprised why people are peddling alliance. PDP is the largest party in Africa. We cannot afford to align and vote for a mushroom party. We are controlling 25 states in Nigeria.” He added, “we have come together and set up a reconciliation committee. The committee is working and they are now prevailing on those who are aggrieved that they should come to the fold of PDP in Ondo State. PDP is the only credible alternative to the present government. We have been there before. Our testimonies are there. So, we have extended the olive branch to all our members to come in so that together we can move forward and take over the government of Ondo State and deliver the much desired dividend of democracy.”
