Edo State Governor, Godwin Obaseki, has expressed concern over what he described as a delay in the investigation and prosecution of those behind the rape and gruesome murder of late Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100-Level Microbiology student of the University of Benin.
In a tweet this evening, Wednesday June 15, Governor Obaseki, appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, ensure that his men conclude investigations and prosecute the perpetrators of the heinous act.
“We are deeply concerned over the delay in the investigation and prosecution of those behind the rape and gruesome murder of late Uwaila Omozuwa, a 100 Level Microbiology student of the University of Benin.
“While declaring open the ‘End of Project Workshop’ for the National Academy for Science, I appealed to the Inspector General of Police, Usman Baba, to please use his good office to ensure that his men conclude investigations and prosecute the perpetrators of the heinous act.
“The workshop has the theme, 'Strengthening the Evidence and Response Pathways for Gender-Based Violence (GBV) in key states in Nigeria”, he stated.
