Our prayers have been answered-Itsekiri Leaders


The leadership of the Warri Study Group, WSG, yesterday said the prayers of the Itsekiri nation has been answered with the emergence of Gen. Muhammadu Buhari as the president-elect in the just concluded March 28, presidential and National Assembly polls.

The WSG also congratulated Gen. Buhari for his victory at the polls saying that “this change couldn’t have come at a better time” and that Nigeria is at her darkest period in history”.

In a statement made available to Newsmen in Warri yesterday and signed by its Chairman and Public Relations Officer, Barr. Edward Ekpoko and Tony Ede the WSG noted that corruption and impunity have held the nation by the jugular while our national security is in the hands of ex-militants and warlords.

According to the group, “our youths are hopeless due to inept government while our institutions are sadly politicized and weakened, saying that “this is not the Nigeria of our dream”.

They expressed delight that they have cried to high heavens and their prayers have been answered, adding that Buhari’s emergence is the answer to their cries and wished him God’s guidance in the discharge of onerous task ahead.

Similarly,  a Warri based pressure group, Buhari Movement for Change, BMC, in Warri yesterday celebrated the victory of the APC presidential candidate, Gen. Buhari and his Vice, Prof. Yemi Osibanjo over the ruling PDP at the Ugbuwangue residence of a Youth Leader, Mr. David Iwere.

David Iwere who declared that the victory is most deserved in Nigeria and praised the doggedness of GMB and his vice.

Iwere also used the medium to thank APC National Leader, Bola Tinubu, Governor Amaechi of Rivers State, APC Publicity Secretary Alhaji Lai Mohammed for standing behind GMB and to all supporters and members of BMC for courage despite the odds and intimidations melted against APC members.

David Iwere who is the BMC Coordinator further disclose that everything has gone wrong in Nigeria in this present administration especially in the area of electricity, unemployment, failed health sector, lack of basic infrastructure and others.

Mr. Iwere said that he is hopeful, GMB will be able to fire the epileptic power situation and give Nigerians 24/7 power supply, create job, improve on the health sector, balance the economy and wipe out corruption.

He praised the courage of Dr. Goodluck Jonathan for accepting the result and conceding to defeat, just as he appreciated the outgoing president for his sportsmanship.

Also speaking during the ceremony, the APC House of Assembly Warri South 2 candidate, Chief Vincent Okudolor declared that the needed change Nigerians have been yearning for has come and that it has come to stay, he also urge the electorate to vote massively for the APC and for him in the up-coming Saturday April 11 Governorship and House of Assembly elections.

The Public Relations Officer of BMC, Dr. Emiko Ofuyakpone averred that the emergence of GMB is from God and the will of the people noting that GMB is going to give zero tolerance to corruption and that he will do well as president.
