Itsekiri graduates set agenda for Buhari, Okowa

The National Association of Itsekiri Graduates, NAIG under the leadership of Comrade Oritsegbegbemi Ajagbe has appealed to the President-Elect, General Muhammadu Buhari and the Delta State Governor-Elect, Senator Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa to lay emphases on the rule of law, merit as well as capacity building of graduates across the country, insisting it is a sure way of tackling lawlessness and the frightening youth unemployment.

The Itsekiri graduates association in a press statement signed by its President, Oritsegbegbemi Ajagbe and its BOT Chairman, Martins Otuedon Ejueyitsi felicitated with the President-Elect, General Buhari, the Vice President-Elect, Prof. Yemi Osinbajo, the Delta State Governor-Elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, the Delta State Deputy Governor-Elect, Barr. Kingsley Otuaro, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju of the House of Representatives, Hon. Daniel Mayuku of Delta State House of Assembly and Hon. Michael Diden for their victory at the polls.

They called on the incoming Buhari administration and the Delta State Governor-Elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to as a matter of urgency address all land issues capable of causing friction between Itsekiri and their neighbours through the rule of law.

NAIG appealed to the Delta State Governor-Elect, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa to correct their perceived lopsidedness in the on-going recruitment into the Delta State Civil Service which weighed heavily against qualified Itsekiri graduates and called on multinational companies operating in Warri Kingdom to key into the local content policy of the federal government in contract awards and employment.

The statement also enjoined the incoming federal government to tackle issues of land reclamation and environmental degradation in Itsekiri coastal communities in Delta State.
