Delta Government tasks pilgrims on prayers for development, peace ahead 2023 polls

Delta State Government, has tasked the over 300 pilgrims to Jordan and Israel, to pray for the continuous development of the state in particular and county at large, charging them to also pray for peace and unity as the 2023 general elections inch closer.

Fresh Angle International understands that Delta State Commissioner, Bureau for Special Duties, Honourable Johnbull Atse Edema, handed down the task on behalf of the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, during the departure briefing of intending pilgrims at the Unity Hall, Government House Asaba.

Hon. Edema, disclosed that the state government have put modalities in place to check any of the pilgrims from absconding while in Israel, saying security operatives are on ground to ensure that no one absconds.

While advising the pilgrims to be good ambassadors of the state, the State Government, underscored the imperative for the pilgrims to conduct themselves in a manner befitting and worthy of Christians.

Hon. Edema, noted that during the pilgrimage, the pilgrims would be allowed to visit historical Biblical sites, so as to be inspired towards getting closer to God.

The Chairman of Delta State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Archbishop Cyril Odutemu, thanked the state government for sponsoring the pilgrimage exercise and advised the intending pilgrims to reciprocate the government's gesture by being of good conduct throughout their stay in Jordan and Israel.

The Executive Secretary of Delta State Christian Pilgrim Welfare Board, Rev. Apostle Samuel Okoh, who also spoke, advised the pilgrims to represent Delta State and the country in a good light.
