Inner Wheel Club of Nigeria, District 916, targets N25million to carry out humanitarian projects for 2022/2023

Inner Wheel Club of Nigeria, IWN, District 916, has targeted 25million naira, to execute humanitarian projects between July 1, 2022 and June 30, 2023  in four states across Nigeria, which are under the district.

Our Co-Publisher/Managing Editor, reports that IWM Oluwatobi Adeoye, made the disclosure Saturday August 13, at Shell Club, Ocean View Hall Ogunu in Warri, Delta State, during her installation as the 3rd District Chairman of Inner Wheel Club of Nigeria, IWN, District 916.

According to IWM Oluwatobi Adeoye, the humanitarian projects to be carried out by the Club, include; free and continuous cervical cancer screening, upscaling awareness on Breast cancer and free screening, empowerment of youths and widows, care for the less privileged as well as educational support for students.

 

Highlights of the Installation Ceremony

IWM Adeoye, who thanked her husband, Otunba Felix Adeoye (a Rotarian) and Rotarians from Rotary Club of Trans Amadi Port Harcourt,District 9141, for their support towards successful completion of the project, she executed ten years ago, as the President of Effurun Club of IWN, stated that eye test, issuance of eye glasses, Syphillis, HIV, Malarial, Blood sugar and Hepatitis test were carried out in the month of July, in partnership with Sisters Against HIV and Cancer Initiative, among others. 

In her welcome address cum valedictory speech, the Immediate Past District Chairman, IPDC of Inner Wheel Club of Nigeria, IWN, District 916, IWM Lawrenta Oribioye, thanked the Club members and personalities present at the installation, saying, “it is a great joy for me to handover to another chairman and also for the collaboration of members, who see to the growth of Inner Wheel Club in the District”.

IWM Lawrenta Oribioye, appreciated God for standing by her throughout the year, highlighting her achievements, which include holding of all district meetings and payment of National as well as International dues.

As part of her achievements, IWM Oribioye, mentioned presentation of two shoe making machines and filing machine to two physical challenged persons, visit to old peoples’ home, Nigeria Correctional Centre and orphanages, where various items were presented given to inmates.

She said that the Club under her leadership, embarked on the distribution of sanitary pads, sanitizers and soaps, among other items to students in schools.

 According to her, WAEC fees and other school levies, were also paid for some students, adding that widows were also given various forms of support and care was given to a trafficked child.

IWM Oribioye, stated that within the outgone club-year, they painted the maternity ward at Otor- Udu General Hospital in Udu Local Government Area, Delta State.

Fresh Angle International can report that the new DC Chairman, IWM Adeoye administered Oath of Office to IPDC Lawrenta Oribioye, Rita Bere (DVC) Esere Atumu (DS) Edugbo Roseline (ADS) Lelekumo Helen (DT) Cynthia Ejifoma (DE) Augustina Ejifoma (Webmaster) Ugbede Oritsegbubemi Uche-Sybil(ESO) and Catherine Orusede (ISO) for 2022/2023, respectively.

A Professor of Agriculture with Lagos State University, Professor Okubena Dipeolu Esther Adeyinka, who spoke on the theme ‘WORK WONDER’, advised women to be courageous and to spring wonders in their day-to-day activities, citing Mrs. Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala as good example of a woman who springs wonders.

While urging women to develop social skills, by relating with others, Professor Adeyinka, advised women to show respect to their husbands, saying the respect would open doors of good things from their husbands.

Awards were presented to Sister Against HIV and Cancer Initiative and other NGOs, that assisted the Club in carrying out most of its projects in the outgone year, even as new members were inducted into the Inner Wheel Club of Nigeria, District 916.

The inductees are; Faith Ayiwe, Edoye Uloma Rose-Kate, Idaresit Iyeke, Ann Benewe, all from Effurun Club, Vivian Ukiri, Asiya Patricia, Bekenawei Ann, Ukarin Bridget and Philomena Kanaba, from Effurun Club, GRA . Others are; Cynthia Ejifoma from Port Harcourt Club, Anderline Azunnuka from Osubi Club, Ibitola Esther Ogechi, Juliet Apata and Esther Philomena Idono, from Warri Club, while Philomena Kanaba, from Delta Radiance.

The Olu of Warri, His Majesty, Ogiame Atuwatse III, ably represented by the Udefi of Warri Kingdom, Chief Clement A. Malemi, HRM Oba Abib Amos Awobajo, the Limeri of Awa Ijebu Kingdom, ably represented, HRM Oba (Barr.) Johnson Adebayo Okubena, the Elerunwon of Erunwon Ijebu Kingdom, who also sent a representative, Uche Agbim, Board of Director 2022/2023, IWM Ezimma Nnabuife, National Representative and President of all Clubs in Nigeria 2022/2023, Louis Esene, Past President JCI Warri, JCI Sen. Maurice Iwhiwu, JCI Sen. Francis Adeoye, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, husband to the IPDC Lawrenta Oribioye, Comrade Lucky Edun, Rotn. Lawrence Nwadiogbu, Mr. Ayokulehin Bakre and Mr. Great Obayano, as well as members of Egbe Bobamayegun Awa Ijebu and Bobamayegun Okunrin Asiwaju Akile Ijebu, were among dignitaries that graced the colourful ceremony.
