Award of pipeline surveillance contract to Tompolo, will check environmental degradation – ACWCN

The Association of Coastal and Waterways Communities of Nigeria, ACWCN, Delta State Chapter, says the award of pipeline surveillance contract by NNPC Limited to a company belonging to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, aka Tompolo, will check environmental degradation in Niger Delta and restore the ecosystem of the region.

Fresh Angle International can report that the position of ACWCN, was contained in a communique issued after an expanded State Executive Council meeting, held Wednesday September 7, 2022 at the Association’s State Secretariat, 117, Ajamimogha Road. Warri, Delta State.

The communique, which had the imprimatur of the Delta State Chairman and Secretary of the Association of Coastal and Waterways Communities of Nigeria, ACWCN, Engr. (Dcn. Tuoyo Woligho and Pastor Paul Boyitie, respectively, as well as that of the 25 local government branch chairmen in the state: “Appealed to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, to consider the Association of Coastal and Waterways Communities of Nigeria, in sharing of contract benefits and surveillance slots, as collaborators in building peace across the Niger Delta region”.

The signatories: 

The communique, stated inter-alia: “High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo is a Nigerian, and also have the right to bid for any contract which NNPC Limited or any other multinational companies, which called for interested and capable persons to hid for and at their liberty to award much contract to whoever that qualify.

“As a body that is saddled with the responsibility of protecting the environment of the coastal and waterways communities of Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta region by reducing environmental degradation, which the federal government of Nigeria has thought wise by awarding the pipeline surveillance job to end the menace of environmental pollution in the Niger Delta region.

“As a body which believes in capability and uprightness, has put our weight behind High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo on the pipeline surveillance contract and appeal to those who are opposed to the contract to come on board to save our environment, from further degradation, because he has the capacity to deliver on the contract

“We are aware that the operation of the illegal refineries over the years has affected our environment and drastically reduced the major occupation of the people living in the coastal and waterways communities of Nigeria, particularly the Niger Delta Region and we are confident that with the award of the pipeline surveillance contract to High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, it will bring the menace to an end and improve our environment and restore the ecosystem.

“We urge all well-meaning individuals, organizations, opinion leaders and traditional rulers in Niger Delta, to support High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo in achieving the objective of clean environment and restore our ecosystem, which we all are agitating for by bringing this menace to final stoppage in the Niger Delta.

“We appreciate the Federal Government of Nigeria for finding an illustrious son of Delta state in the person of High Chief Government Oweizide Ekpemupolo, by awarding of the surveillance contract to him. He has overtime, shown great commitment in advancing development of all sectors of the Nation”.
