Come Thursday September 15, 2022, an unsung hero and thoroughbred, Dr. Michael Ejueyitsi Tidi, LLB, who was born September 15, 1980 in Warri, Delta State, will clock 42 years.
Dr. Michael Tidi, can be described as a full ‘Warri Boy’, his father is from the Tidi Family of Okere, His mom was from the Emiko ruling family of the Warri Kingdom. She was a vibrant entrepreneur who excelled in various business endeavors where she carried him along ensuring that he was industrious and productive in all tasks assigned him. He grew up eager to impact positively on the society he found himself. When youths of his age were living for the immediate gains with the infamous entitlement mentality prevalent amongst privileged Warri Boys who exploited the IOC’s. He delayed immediate gratification and sought to equip his intellect pertinent to adding value to service.
Political Journey
Dr. Michael Tidi, was actively involved in politicking within Warri since National Youth Service Days. Being an active member of the People’s Democratic Party. After supporting various candidates in previous elections, in 2011 he won the ticket to contest for The Delta State House of Assembly seat to represent Warri South Constituency 1, on the platform of the defunct Action Congress of Nigeria, ACN. This campaign was successful in launching an energetic leader into the politics of Delta State and Nigeria at Large. Tidi has been involved with organizing and mobilizing persons for political purposes holding key positions on various campaign organizations. He was appointed Personal Assistant to Rt. Hon. Victor Ochei (former Speaker, DTHA) an active role he played and represented the Hon. Speaker on various occasions.
He birthed the PDP Crusaders, a group which was active in mobilizing grass root supports for Distinguished Senator Ifeanyi Okowa’s emergence as the Governor of Delta State. In June 2015, He was appointed as Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on News Media. His performance brought him closer to the Governor who is always fond of performers in all spheres. He was one of the closest aides to the Governor. He resigned in 2017 as Aide to the Governor to contest for The Chairman of Warri South Local Government Council, a position he won and still holding for a second term.
Education
The unquenchable appetite to become resourceful, spurred Dr. Michael Tidi to seek qualitative education. After Secondary School in Warri, he obtained Bachelors’ Degree in Economics/Education (University of Port Harcourt – 2005) Masters’ Degree in Energy & Petroleum Economics (Delta State University - 2009) Doctor of Philosophy (Ph. D) in Energy Studies with Specialization in Oil & Gas Economics (University of Ibadan - 2018) and the latest, a First Class Degree in Law, from Benin Idahosa University, Edo State.

Achievements as Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Delta State
Regardless of the paucity of funds bedeviling the third tier of government today, the Dr. Michael Tidi Administration in Warri South Local Government Council, has been able to undertake the following;
Ø Successfully organized the 1st and 2nd Warri Economic Summits.
Ø Skills’ acquisition training for youths/promotion of adult education
Ø Provision of Succor for indigent persons, victims of fire disasters.
Ø Donations to inmates of Nigeria Correctional Service, Warri, to enhance their welfare and skills’ acquisition drive
Ø Providing enabling environment and occasional financial support to NGOs, Wired for Humanitarian Services
Ø Expansive/Daily Environmental Sanitation activities in Warri City Centre and the Riverine Areas of the Local Government
Ø Procurement of Waste Disposal Truck
Ø Constant servicing of the mower machines, waste disposal truck and tipper, used for daily refuse management in the Local Government Area
Ø Appointing and funding of the Warri South Council Environmental Sanitation/Beautification Taskforce. It is aimed at improving the aesthetics of Warri and to attract investments
Ø Attraction of Indigenous and Foreign Investors.
Ø Upgrade of Ugbuwangue Market and Lighting of the Warri Main (Dore) Market.
Ø Construction/Commissioning of 120 Open Stores at Ugbuwangue Market, Warri
Ø Historic takeover of Ogbe-Ijoh Market, Warri/comprehensive data collation of the shops and occupants of the market, after several years of business activities in the market premises
Ø Introduction of electronic revenue collection system to the Council Area.
Ø Construction of 21-boreholes across the 20 DSIEC Wards in Warri South Local Government Area.
ü Refurbishing of Patrol Van for the Police at ‘A’ Division, Warri, during the First tenure
ü Servicing Traditional Institutions in the Local Government Area, via robust engagement and quick response to issues of security concern
ü Constant engagement of opinion and community youth leaders on peace building strategies, mental reorientation and proper mentorship
ü Committing huge resources in servicing Security Agencies in the Local Government Area
ü In a firm resolve to boost Agro-Economic growth in the Coastal Communities, the Dr. Michael Tidi led administration donated six fishing boats with engines as well as fishing nets, to six Co-operative Societies in the Local Government Area.
Ø Reconstruction/completion of Omadino Primary Health Care Centre. This includes:
i. Construction of bore-hole and tank stanchion with gee-pee tank
ii. Construction of perimeter fence around the Health Centre
iii. Electrification work at the Health Centre and
iv. Sand-filling of the premises of the Health Centre
Ø Procurement of Medical Equipment and installation at Omadino Health Centre
Ø Other primary Health Facilities’ Upgrades completed and ongoing across the Local Government Area
Ø Opening up sectional layout of Omadino Community with Bulldozer
Ø Repair and Installation of faulty 300K VA transformer, supplying Warri South Local Government Council Main Secretariat and its environs, public power supply
Ø Re-construction work to stop water-logged behind the entrance staircase of the Secretariat. Rehabilitation of toilets, including procurement of new W.C, WEB, foreign door, fixing of floor and wall tiles, painting the toilet rom WH8room and fixing sliding windows on both rooms.
(i) Laying of pipes to connect water to the toilet
(ii) Painting, Provision/fixing of sliding windows etc., to the office close to the toilet
(iii) Painting of the Warri South Local Government Council Secretariats, including the entire perimeter fence
Ø Painting of some road kerbs/roundabout to enhance the Beautification of Warri South Local Government Area, Warri
Ø Rehabilitation of failed sections of Okumagba Estate Roundabout and its adjoining roads in Warri
Ø Repair work on the Hilux Jeep attached to Head of Works Department
Ø Overhanding of NUGLE Bus, body work and other repairs
Ø Purchase of Sienna Bus for NULGE, Warri South Council
Ø Ongoing Construction work at the official resident of Chairman of the Local Government Area. It includes demolition, clearing design work/soil test etc.
Ø Procurement of Vehicle: Lx 570, Ra4 Jeep, 4Ng Toyota Sienna: One to "A" Division Police Station, one to ‘B’ Division Police Station, one to Area Command Police Station, one to the Legislative Arm 3Nos Toyota Corolla one to SLG, HPM and TLG
