Okowa snubs Itsekiri, Isoko

In what was a confirmation of our exclusive report yesterday morning, newly sworn in Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa has dumped the Itsekiri ethnic Nationality quest for the position of Secretary to the State Government, announcing Urhobo born, Ovie Agas as Secretary to the Delta State Government.                      

The announcement which was made public today afternoon, also saw the former Senator appointing an Ijaw man, Timi Brisibe as his Chief of Staff, despite having an Ijaw man as Deputy Governor.                   

Governor Okowa also announced his namesake, Ifeanyi Eboigbe as his Director of Protocol.                       

Fresh Angle International can report that even though it's still early days in the life of the Okowa administration, political followers of Itsekiri extraction who bare their minds in exclusive chat described the appointments as political strategy by Dr. Okowa to cement political ties with the Urhobo and Ijaw with a view to making Isoko and Itsekiri politically insignificant, insisting that failure by self seeking Itsekiri leaders in PDP to present a common candidate for the position of SSG was no excuse to renege on his promise to appoint an Itsekiri as SSG after winning the three Warri Local Government Areas in the last gubernatorial election due to the support he got from Itsekiri leaders in PDP.

Meanwhile investigation also reveals that contrary to earlier promise, Governor Okowa has disregarded the Isoko and he has concluded arrangement to appoint an Urhobo to head DESOPADEC, with a pledge to also give the State PDP Chairmanship to Urhobo.
