The Esimaje Awani led leadership of Itsekiri National Youth Council, INYC has vowed to vehemently resist attempts by some politicians in PDP to cause disaffection within its ranks with the aim of building their political nest.
Comrade Awani who spoke in an exclusive telephone chat Thursday June 11 in reaction to recent protest in Warri by some elements which the INYC has described as non members, stated that his leadership discovered after investigation that a newly elected member of Delta State House of Assembly of Itsekiri extraction (name withheld) who is believed to be close to the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, instigated the “failed attempt to undermine my leadership”.
According to the INYC President, no one should use the Itsekiri youth body to consolidate on his or her relationship with Governor Okowa, particularly when “the governor’s appointments so far and his influence on those who emerged leaders in the Delta State House of Assembly seems to reflect an administration that is not Itsekiri friendly”.
He advised Itsekiri politicians, especially those in PDP to put their acts together, show good example to upcoming Itsekiri youths and galvanize the way forward on the present “political dilemma Iwere Nation is experiencing”.
