Host communities shut down NPDC's flow stations in Delta

Hundreds of women including youths and leaders of Urhobo and Isoko host communities of Nigeria HOSTCOM this morning shutdown flow stations and operations of Nigerian Petroleum Development Company NPDC, in Udu and Ughelli South local government areas over unresolved issues relating to pipeline surveillance contracts and unpaid OML30 GMoU N1.4 billion funds.

In a statement signed b y Comrade Efe Okovwurie, Comrade Morrister Idibra, Pastor Rochard Erhurhore and Comrade John Obaro, the host communities warned that all facilities in OML 26, 30, 34, and 65 shall remain shut until NPDC  and NNPC award to Urhobo and Isoko their separate Pipeline Surveillance and Intelligence Gathering contracts.

The protesters who stormed the Jeremi flowstation at 9am, shut down the facilities and also demanded that NPDC should immediately create a Contract Department in its  Edjeba office to take care of contractors in Delta state.

And that NPDC must pay up the nine months outstanding monthly salaries of host communities workers in OML 26, 30, 34, and 65, adding that   NPDC is heavily indebted to most of the indigenous contractors.

They also lamented the replacement of indigenous contractors whose contract tenure had expired for over two years and the inability of NPDC management to put new contracts in place.

The host communities said NPDC should create Assets Department for OML 26, 30, 34, and 65, which must be located in the catchment areas where the facilities are located.
