Otumara keeps to promise, doles out 30 fresh tertiary scholarships

In keeping with his 2014 promise to National Association of Itsekiri Students, NAIS, immediate past Delta State Commissioner for Health, Dr. Joseph Sisanmi Otumara has awarded fresh 30 scholarships to indigent students of Itsekiri extraction studying in various tertiary Institutions across the country.

Dr. Otumara who gave the scholarships to the beneficiaries through NAIS Executive yesterday at Ugbuwangue, Warri, Delta State, charged Itsekiri students studying in tertiary Institutions to distinguish themselves in their academic pursuit.

The medical practitioner cum politician who is arguably the only Nigerian elected to an executive political position in the country thrice, admonished NAIS to use their knowledge to make the difference in the present situation Itsekiris have found themselves.

 The PDP Chieftain, who was represented by his Special Assistant, Mr. Andrew Megbele, noted that the scholarship scheme is an Interventionist programme geared towards assisting underprivileged students in Iwere land.

He advised NAIS to use the knowledge acquired in their career to socialize and reposition the Itsekiri culture into enviable heights.

President of NAIS, Comrade Precious Otikpere in his remark, pledged that the Itsekiri students’ body will make Itsekiri Nation proud through educational skills acquired in their Institutions of learning.

Comrade Otikpere commended Dr. Otumara for keeping to his promise on the scholarship award and appealed to other Itsekiri leaders to emulate the gesture.
