According to a post culled from Itsekiri Chat Group, ICG, this morning, Wednesday July 8, speculations are strong that one time Chairman of Warri South-West Local Government Area and prominent Ugborodo leader, Hon. David Tonwe, who is preferred by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa to be appointed as commissioner may have back down and conceded the slot to former Delta State Commissioner for Oil and Gas, Mr. Omamofe Joseph Pirah, following pressures from the member representing Warri Federal Constituency at the National Assembly, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju.
Governor Okowa is said to be averse to the appointment of Mr. Omamofe Pirah as commissioner because he was in Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan's cabinet and as such believed to be loyal to the former governor.
It was rumoured that in a bid to intensify lobby for Mr. Pirah to be appointed commissioner, Hon. Daniel Reyenieju alongside Hon. David Tonwe and Mr. Pirah were alleged to have reached out to High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo at his Gbaramatu home, so that he can help them lobby Okowa for Pirah.
