Itsekiri rights' activist and Public Relations Officer of Host Communities of Nigeria, Producing Oil and Gas, Itsekiri chapter, Comrade Jemi Ajemijeroma Mene Ejegi, has slammed High Chief Government Ekpemupolo alias Tompolo, over his claim during a recent Channels TV interview that they (implying Gbaramatu people) own the riverine areas of Warri South - West Local Government Area, where his company was awarded pipelines surveillance contract by NNPC Limited.
Ejegi, who spoke in anger in an exclusive telephone chat with Fresh Angle International in the early hours of today, Tuesday October 11, while reacting to Government Ekpemupolo's statement, described the utterance of the Gbaramatu warlord as utter disregard for the judiciary, constitutionally established government and, " the position of an outlaw."
He emphasized that the award of pipelines surveillance contract to Tompolo's firm by the Nigeria National Petroleum Company Limited , does not give anyone or group of persons right to land ownership, " particularly after courts of competent jurisdiction, had given judgments on such land."
" We are not in a banana republic, where people would just make reckless statements and get away with it unchallenged. This country is ruled by constitutionally established governments and it is expected of each tier of government to implement the law whenever the need arises. While I am not competent to speak on behalf of Chief Ayirimi Emami, I have credible piece of information that a part of the pipelines surveillance contract was awarded to one of his companies by NNPC and not given to him by Tompolo as he claimed in the now controversial Channels TV interview ", Ejegi, posited.
