Decongestion: Delta Chief Judge, Diai, Commences Visits To Custodial Centres

As part of efforts to decongest the Correctional Centres across Delta State, the Delta State Chief Judge, Honorable Justice Theresa Diai on Tuesday October 18, commenced visit to the five Custodial Centres of the Nigerian Correctional Service in the State, with a visit to Warri Custodial Center in Okere, Warri South Local Government Area.

  

Our Senior Roving Correspondent, reports that, Justice Diai, explained that the visit was the third of her series to Warri Custodial Centre and the last for the year 2022. 

 

The Deputy Controller of Corrections, DCC of Warri Custodial Centre, Edo Joseph Lucky, in his speech, thanked the Chief Judge for her visit. 

 

“I want to thank the Honorable Chief Judge, since your last visit in May 2022, the court attendance and hearing are now accelerated for good dispensation of justice.

 

“Some of the inmates of this center, will be happy to see that some of them will be released to reunite with their families, DCC Edo Lucky, added.

 

Fresh Angle International can report that out of 1018 cases for the open out at the Warri Custodial Center, about 500 cases were treated yesterday, even as the exercise continues today, Wednesday October 19. 

 

Sapele Custodial Center and Remand Home, will be visited on Thursday October 20, while that of Kwale and Agbor Custodial Centers, are scheduled for October 24 and 25, respectively. 

 

Honorable Justice Theresa Diai, will round off the visits at Ogwashi-Uku Custodial Center on October 27 and 28.
