Okumagba’s claim to Orosuen’s stool is criminal, Kingdom’s spokesman blasts

The Traditional Council, Chiefs, elders and people of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri have described the purported declaration of one Chief Anthony Kesiena Okumagba, claiming to be the Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo ‘as chosen by the gods’ as illegal, criminal and “completely at variance with the selection process laid down in the Okere-Urhobo Kingdom Traditional Chieftaincy declaration”.

In a press statement signed by Chief Wilson Eboh, The Regent/Otota (Traditional Prime Minister) of the Kingdom on behalf of others, they described the Vanguard Newspaper report wherein the said Chief Anthony Okumagba claimed to be the new Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo as “most embarrassing, noting that “for a person to be qualified to ascend the throne, he must be elected by the kingmakers and presented to the traditional council of Chiefs of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom”  and not to be chosen by the gods as claimed by the said Chief Anthony Kesiena Okumagba.

While declaring that the action is an indication that Chief Okumagba is ignorant or deliberately wants to create an “atmosphere of chaos and possibly mislead members of the public with the help of The Vanguard Newspaper”, Chief Eboh quipped that the title of Onuborboro which Anthony Okumagba bears “has no bearing with our Kingdom (Okere-Urhobo) and more so he has never been considered worthy at any time to be made a Chief of the Kingdom not to talk of being made an Orosuen”.

They challenged him to produce the Chief priest of the gods through whom the gods spoke before he made his declaration.

They expressed deep concern about the tension generated by the report and noted that “efforts are being made to address both the Criminal and Civil aspects” of the report.
