NUPENG arm targets maritime security as major policy direction

The Branch National Chairman of Marine Equipment and Oil Suppliers, MEOS, an arm of NUPENG, Comrade Best Enuyiese Ose says the major aim of the body is to compliment the efforts of conventional security agencies in the Maritime Sector, especially in the Oil and Gas Industry.

Comrade Best Ose gave the explanation Friday August 7 at the NUPENG House, Ugborikoko near Warri, Delta State during the inauguration of the six operating units of MEOS in the State.

He declared that MEOS will continue to partner NIMASA, the Nigerian Navy, DSS and Marine Police in the renewed determination to tackle crude oil theft, sea piracy, kidnapping and other acts of criminality.

According to him, arrangement is in place to train MEOS members with a view to strengthening their capacity on the task ahead.

The Warri Zonal Branch Chairman of NUPENG, Comrade Cogent Ojobor in an address admonished the newly sworn-in units’ executive to see themselves as the peoples’s servant and not to oppress anyone with their office.

The NUPENG Branch Chairman who was represented by the Warri Zonal Auditor, Comrade Gabriel Esezobor administered oath of office to the six MEOS Chairmen and other members of their executive.

Our Correspondent reports that the Commander, NNS Delta, Commodore A Sule was represented by Lt. Cdr. A S Omotosho, while other security Chiefs and traditional rulers in the area also graced the occasion.

While the Escravos Unit is Chaired by Comrade Collins Ajeboghouku, Forcados Unit of MEOS has Comrade David Perebor as Chairman. Others are Comrade Joseph Omajugho, Chairman-Koko/Gelegele Unit, Comrade Destiny Okwe-Chairman, Oghara/Sapele Unit, Comrade Monday Tenkumor-Warri Unit Chairman and Comrade Ikwobodo- Ndokwa Unit.
