The Internally Generated Revenue, IGR of Delta State has allegedly dropped following the non-payment of three months’ salary and allowances of staff as well as board members of Delta Board of Internal Revenue, DBIR, Fresh Angle International has learnt.
Investigation reveals that the board which increased the State Internally Generated Revenue from average of N500 million a month to about N4.5billion, appears to have been rendered impotent and the State IGR profile is speculated to have dropped drastically, following non-payment of salary to staff and board members of DBIR by Governor Ifeanyi Okowa since assuming office May 29, 2015.
Some staffers of DBIR who spoke to Fresh Angle International on condition of anonymity disclosed that they are no longer motivated to get to the field to generate revenue despite the continuous drop in the monthly Federal allocation due to the State as a result of dwindling crude oil price.
Chairman of the Board, Mr. Joel Thomas Onowakpo and other members of the board could not be reached to comment on the development.
Meanwhile, Fresh Angle International can also report that Governor Ifeanyi Okowa’s cameo visit to the Olu of Warri Friday August 21 in a bid to stop the Igba of Warri Kingdom, Chief (Mrs.) Rita Lori Ogbebor from going ahead with legal action against the Delta State government on the recently signed controversial Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC amendment bill may have hit the rocks.
Your soar away International Tabloid scooped from an inside source that Chief Rita Lori Ogbebor refused to back down despite overtures from the Olu of Warri who gave audience to Governor Okowa on the issue and Chief Ogbebor was said to be finalizing arrangements to head to court, even as speculations are rife that she has already contacted some Senior Advocate of Nigeria to lead the legal team.
