The Operations Manager, Pan Ocean Oil Corporation, Mr. Monday Ikhureigbe has sued for the sustenance of cordial relationship between Ogunu Community and his company so as to attract increased development in the area.
Mr. Monday Ikhureigbe made the call Wednesday in Warri during the 6th bi- annual inter house athletic competition of Ogunu Primary School held at the Ogunu Community football field.
In a good will message by the Chairman/Managing Director of Pan Ocean Oil Coporation, Dr. Festus Fadeyi , he stressed the importance of sports in school curriculum and noted that apart from creating environment for healthy rivalry, school sports also enhances healthy conditions of the pupils. According to him, it was as a result of the peacefully relationship between the company and Ogunu Community that the company was able to renovate a block of classrooms in the community in 2010.
In her welcome address, the Head Teacher of Ogunu Primary School, Lady Abigor Shola Oghenekevwe commended Pan Ocean Oil Corporation for sponsoring the inter house sport competition and appealed to other corporate bodies to emulate the gesture.
While describing sports as a source of financial freedom to any child that is talented, Lady Abigor Oghenekevwe appealed to the state government to provide more infrastructural,audio visual and other teaching aids to the school.
The event which was chaired by Mr. Ashima John saw pupils from five houses: Green, Red,Purple, Blue and Yellow participating in march pass as well as long and short distant races.
