A group committed to the protection, restoration and conservation of the coastal communities in Nigeria, Eco-Restoration Foundation of Nigeria, ERFON has deployed the incorporation of renowned Nigerian movie personalities, broadcasters and other icons in the entertainment industry in her determination to raise awareness on serious environmental issues ravaging the country.
The Executive Director of ERFON, Prince David Omaghomi who made the disclosure at the Eco-Centre in New Lekki Beach, Lagos during the induction of Mr. Oputa Pius of Wazobia FM, CEO of Bigjamz World Entertainment, Babara Kotsoni and CEO of Magic Sound Music Group, Pastoryoma Shola Omaghomi as Eco-Ambassadors.
According to Prince Omaghomi, the essence was to “encourage everyone in the entertainment industry to align with a particular ideology and use their fame to help raise awareness on serious environmental issues ravaging our nation”.
Other Eco-Ambassadors unveiled in recent past by ERFON include: Nollywood diva, Ini Edo, media icon, Guy Murray Bruce, Chakam Crooner-Ade Piper, President of Nigerian Environmental Society, Tim Ekoko, Silverbird Communications Limited, Pillar Oil, Hi-tech Construction, E3 Consult Ltd, Department of Petroleum Resources, DPR and the Belgian Agency for Forests & Nature as Eco-Companies and agencies respectively.

The new inductees: Oputa Pius, Babara Kotsoni and Pastoryoma Shola Omaghomi commended ERFON for the recognition and promised to use their career to draw the attention of policy makers to do more in their respective States in the battle to save the coastal communities of Lagos, Ogun, Ondo, Delta, Bayelsa, Rivers, Akwa Ibom and Cross Rivers States against environmental degradation.
According to Babara Kotsoni, Nigeria needs a phenomenal growth in its tourism sector and that can only be achieved with the unveiling of a futuristic regional development plan to be drawn up by governments, companies, donor agencies and local communities with a view to providing a broad based approach for the restoration and conservation of critical areas of the country, even as she emphasized the immense benefits of tourism to the country.
