Immediate past Commissioner, Special Duties, Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Mr. Matthew Poko Opuoru says a lot of work needs to be done in terms of empowerment of the disadvantaged and oppressed in the quest to tackle the challenges the country is presently experiencing.
Mr. Opuoru, a Chieftain of the PDP made the assertion in Warri, Sunday September 13, 2015 while receiving one of the awards of ‘Generals of Grassroots Empowerment’, during a Book Launch/ Award Presentation organized by the Crew of Generals of Grassroots Empowerment.
According to the former Commissioner who said he is motivated to do his best, the proper way to empower people is to create the platform for them to develop themselves and not to spread money around unnecessarily.
Speaking earlier, the book reviewer, Dr. Akpor Mudiagha Odje described the 73-page book as a worthy expose of the activities of Grassroots Generals whose lives have positively impacted the lives of the down-trodden in the society.

Chief Sunny Popo in his opening remark commended the awardees for supporting youths across the State, no matter their ethnic Nationality.
Our Correspondent reports that the Deputy Speaker of Delta State House of Assembly, Hon. Friday Ossai Osanebi who sent a representative, The Akulagba of Warri, Chief Ayirimi Emami and current Delta State Commissioner For Transport, Mr. Vincent Uduaghan were among other awardees.
