URGENT APPEAL TO PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI TO SAVE DELTA STATE CHAPTER OF ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS, APC FROM EXTINCTION OVER IBE KACHIKWU’S ROMANCE WITH THE LEADERSHIP OF PEOPLES DEMOCRATIC PARTY, PDP DELTA STATE CHAPTER

Our dear President Sir, we commend your vision and determination to meet the yearnings of Nigerians and this has further confirmed that our effort and synergy with the leaders and members of our great party, the All Progressives Congress, APC to ensure your victory at the March 28, 2015 elections is worth the while and quite apt.

Sir, it is necessary at this point to bring to the fore the attack and intimidation members of our group, Buhari Movement For Change, BMC, suffered the day you visited the transited Olu of Warri, Ogiame Atuwatse II and the teeming supporters of the APC at the Warri City Stadium in Warri as part of your rigorous electioneering campaign. An attack, orchestrated by the PDP and their hirelings.

The Regional Office of BMC at 1 Ekpen Street, Okere, Warri in Delta State was attacked overnight and several of our billboards as well as banners bearing your imposing picture alongside that of your Vice, Prof.  Yemi Osinbajo were either burnt or torn to shreds. It was one of several efforts made by the then ruling Peoples Democratic Party, PDP to intimidate our members, especially those in the Niger Delta/ South-South region from galvanizing support for you and other APC candidates.

But as responsible Niger Deltans who strongly believe in the APC Change agenda, we kept our cool, risked our lives and spent our time and resources to work for the APC. We will however not bore you with the details of our agony, especially in Delta Central and South senatorial districts because of the huge responsibility facing your administration as a result of bad governance predating your people-driven administration.

Your Excellency, members of BMC in Delta Central and South are heartbroken and are now subject of scorn as well as ridicule due to their neglect. It might be early days in the life of your administration no doubt, but if the present trend continues, BMC which is the fulcrum of APC in Delta State, particularly Central and South Senatorial districts will become history and thus lead to the death of APC in Delta State. We say this with all sense of responsibility.

Our fears are hinged on the reality that the only sense of belonging we would have had, which is the Minister of State for Petroleum, Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu has virtually blocked all possible access and now romances with the PDP led government in Delta State. Our Honourable Minister maintains close ties with the State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Okowa, who is from Delta North. The Delta North Senatorial district also has the Central Bank Governor, Mr. Godwin Emefiele, while juicy committees in National Assembly such as Chairman, Senate Committee on Niger Delta (with oversight function on NDDC, Ministry of Niger Delta Affairs and Presidential Amnesty Office) and the Chairman House of Representatives Committee on Petroleum are held by PDP lawmakers from Delta North.

We are not swayed by the argument of Ibe Kachikwu being a technocrat, because as far as we are concerned, technocrats are professionals in their different fields and once they accept political appointments or vie for elective offices, they become active politicians.

As far as we are concerned Your Excellency, you are a military technocrat but you have shown great political dexterity and good administrative skills as well as maintaining an appreciable relationship with the leadership of our great party, the APC and even gloriously managing the excesses of the opposition PDP.

Sir, Our Position is summed Up Thus:

*Give us a credible politician from Delta Central or Delta South Senatorial district who is an active card carrying member of the All Progressives Congress, APC as Minister and let Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu remain as Group Managing Director of the NNPC or Dr. Emmanuel Ibe Kachikwu should stop his political romance with the PDP government in Delta State and align himself with APC members to save BMC and indeed the APC in Delta State from extinction. Doing this will not in any way affect credible performance, but can only strengthen the APC and finally put nail in the coffin of the PDP in Delta State and other parts of the Niger Delta.

This is not to say that Dr. Kachikwu cannot perform official functions with the Delta State Governor, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa when necessary, like what happened when you visited Cross River State for official function and the PDP governor in the State ensured the success of the programme without either party compromising their political interests.

Mr. President should note that our support to the Ministerial nomination of Ibe Kachikwu despite him being from the same Senatorial district of Delta North as the State Governor and the CBN Governor was as a respect of your high office and trust or we should have towed the line of the leaders of Niger State where the nomination of Alhaji Ibeto was withdrawn as a result of protest that the governor and ministerial nominee are from the same senatorial district. It thus seem that our support is now seen on the part of Kachikwu as weakness or acquiesance by the people of the Delta central peopled by the Urhobo Ethnic Nationality and Delta South Senatorial District peopled by the Itsekiris, Isoko and Ijaw ethnic Nationalities. It is a trite fact that Delta Central and South make up 80% of the population, economic and political direction of the State.

Your Excellency, we therefore appeal to your good office to give serious consideration to the people of Delta Central and South Senatorial districts in subsequent appointments to correct the palpable neglect of the two very vital districts.

We sincerely look forward to you addressing our genuine cry. Sir our patience is growing thin.
