All is now set for the coronation ceremony of the 20th Olu of Warri, Prince Ikenwoli Godfrey Emiko at the ancestral home of the Itsekiri people in Ode-Itsekiri, otherwise known as Big-Warri tomorrow Saturday December 12, 2015.
Our Correspondent reports that the grandeur ceremony is expected to be graced by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Babachir Lawal, State Governors, Senators, Ministers and prominent traditional rulers across the country.
Already, both the Oil City of Warri and the riverine Ode-Itsekiri, venue of the one day event is now wearing new looks, with the traditional red and white flag adorning everywhere and hoisted on most cars to signify the importance of the event and its attendant joy.
The event which will feature flamboyant boat regatta at the Warri/NPA River will also have on display various traditional dances from some selected Itsekiri communities within and outside Delta State.
But some Itsekiri sons have expressed their hope that the new monarch should bear no grudges against anyone and ensure that he carries everyone along in unity, transparency including working hard to attract more development to Iwere land in the spirit of a new dawn for Warri Kingdom.
Speaking on the June 4, 2015 destruction of over 100 modern residential structures alleged to have been built on the royal cemetery land at Ifie, Mr. Henry Erikowa pleaded with the Monarch to look at the matter dispassionately and do the needful, even as Mr. Victor Omaghomi opined that the cemetery be well marked out and fenced, while those whose houses or land do not encroach into the Royal Cemetery boundary be allowed to rebuild their houses.
