Commissioner receives 21 medals, trophies won by Athletes in Kogi


The Kogi Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development,Hon. Idris Musa on Monday received  21 Medals and trophies won by Kogi State Athletes recently. 

 
The information officer, Kogi State Ministry of Youths and Sports, Victoria Toluhi Tafu, disclosed this in a statement on Monday evening.
 
Tafu explained that, the highly elated  Sports Commissioner congratulated the Athletes for their excellent performance and passion at making Kogi State proud in the various championship.
 
 
Our Kogi State correspondent, reports that the Commissioner was excited at the numbers of medals won by Kogi State Athletes since he assumed office in 2020.
 
While assuring the Athletes of Government support and Sponsorship at the Forthcoming National Sports Festival tagged DELTA 2022, the image maker of the ministry while quoting the Commissioner promised that athletes effort will not go unrewarded. 
 
According to her, the Commissioner later appealed to the Athletes to put in their best by training hard for the Sports Festival.
 
The statement reads in part "Victor Joseph of Kogi State won a Trophy as the most Valuable player at the last Table tennis Championship held in Lagos and two players from Kogi State have been invited to the National Camp in the junior cadet category. Five gold, one Silver and six Bronze medals were won in Table tennis.
 
"In Boxing, Celestine Ekele won a Gold medal at the National Boxing Championship held in Kaduna. In rowing and canoeing, Kogi State won a Gold medal at the National Rowing Canoe and Sailing championship held in Abuja.
 
"In Athletics, Kogi state won a total number of 8 Medals in three different competitions namely Okpekpe marathon Race, Access Marathon Race and National athletics Championship held at Abuja. A total number of twenty one medals were won in four different Sports respectively".
