In a bid to unite youths as a way of repositioning Itsekiri Nation towards greatness, a group of young Itsekiri sons as well as daughters led by Ambassador Young Piero have commenced a consultative approach to chart a way forward to form a common course for Itsekiri leaders.
Addressing a gathering of Itsekiri youths in Koko, Warri North Local Government Area, Delta State weekend, convener of the emerging youth group, Young Piero stated, “the time for healing of the wounds (in Itsekiri) has come. The moment to bridge the chasms that divide us has come. The time to build up a new Itsekiri is before us. We shall work to achieve our political emancipation, to pledge ourselves to liberate and support our people from suffering, deprivation, negligence, betrayers, selfish gain, slavery, poor mind set, hate, impunity and continuous bondage”. He added, “let us commit ourselves to the construction, justice, peace, love and unity of a new Itsekiri, because there is no future in the past”.
Young Piero further explained that the purpose of convening the meeting was “the re-orientation of Itsekiri sons and daughters, to put aside hatred and post hurt any leader or youth have done to them,” with a view to moving Warri Kingdom forward.
