The Managing Director of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission, DESOPADEC, Olorogun Williams Makinde has stated that falling global oil price should not be used as excuse by any Chief Executive as reason for non-performance and dereliction of duties.
He advised leaders to design other viable and more profitable ways to run or manage their organizations properly to meet the yearnings and aspirations of the people.
The state oil intervention agency boss made this remark yesterday at Sapele during the end of year interactive parley with newsmen and local/community newspaper publishers and to show appreciation to them for their support and co-operation to the Board in the outgoing year.
The DESOPADEC boss maintained that he will not succumb to intimidation or blackmail from any quarters no matter what said the Commission media department is open to all journalists to cross check their facts before going to press saying that he is prepared to divulge useful information to the media so long as it does bother of security issues.
He further promised to organize training programmes for journalists in the 2016 fiscal year to enable them acquire modern journalistic skills to improve their professionalism and rise above unwarranted negative sensationalism and arm-chair journalism practice.
Chief Makinde emphasized that during the 2016 working year the Commission will concentrate on human capital development with emphasis on female graduates stating that he would embark on massive skills acquisition training for youths in the State to make them self employed and reliant instead of the culture of begging that has become the vogue in recent times across the State noting that skills acquisition centers at Afisiere in Ughelli and Bomadi would be resuscitated and made functional once again.
