Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Hon. Matthew Mofe Edema has come down heavy on revenue collection, threatening to arrest and prosecute any revenue contractor who over-tax people of Warri South Local Government Area in the course of carrying out their assignment.

Hon. Edema handed down the warning Tuesday February 9 at his office in Warri South Council Main Secretariat, Warri while inaugurating three revenue committees, which are split into ‘A Division’, ‘B Division’ and the ‘Father of the Committees, otherwise called the monitoring committee headed by Vice Chairman of the Local Government Area, Hon. Charlie Etsaghara.

While insisting that no contractor should collect revenue beyond the lawful amount approved by the Council, the second-term Warri South Council Boss ordered contractors to live up to their financial obligation within two weeks from Tuesday February 9 or face revocation of their contracts.

He disclosed that the tenement rate recently introduced for landlords and other property owners in Warri by his administration ranges between N200 to N2, 000 for residential buildings depending on the sizes and N8, 000 for owners of large concentration of residential houses.

Responding on behalf of others, Vice Chairman of Warri South Local Government, Hon. Charlie Etsaghara assured the Council Boss that they will serve diligently, promising that they will ensure that all Internally Generated Revenue due to the Council are paid into the Local Government coffers.
