Warri South Constituency II: My Constituents will have unfettered access to me, if given the mandate – Pira assures

Contestant to Warri South Constituency II seat in Delta State House of Assembly, under the platform of New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, Comrade Tosan Ekube Pira, has assured that her constituents will have unfettered access to her, if given the mandate to represent the constituency in the forthcoming 2023 general elections.

Comrade Pira, who gave the assurance recently, during an exclusive interview with Fresh Angle International in Warri, Delta State, said: “I know by the grace of God, I will change the narrative, if given the mandate, it doesn’t matter who my opponents are”.

She declared: “NNPP is a party that just came to Delta State, because we want to change the change. I will make sure people in my constituency, have unfettered access to me. I have a lot to bring to the table. Vote for me, so that together, we can change the narrative”.

Comrade Tosan Ekube Pira, revealed her manifesto as follows: “Democracy is based on the notion that people should be self-governing and that the representatives of the people, should be held accountable for their actions. The legislature, which represents the people and acts as their agent, is therefore at the core of the Western democratic tradition. Sadly, the legislative arm of government in Nigeria, has suffered most from the military era as it is immediately disbanded upon every successful coup.  And because we are not familiar with democratic traditions, elections to the legislative arm, have been an all-comers affair, with people using thugs and money to be ‘elected’. Many get in there, just for the social prestige, economic benefits, political access and relevance.

“Fortunately, our democracy is gradually deepening. I can say this because my people; the good people of Warri South Constituency II, have called on me to represent them in the State House of Assembly. I am sure those who made the call and those I consulted, gave me their consent, after looking at my pedigree and my antecedent as a teacher. Before asking me to serve them as their legislator at the state level. I have the skills, patriotism, exposure and clout, to make my people proud. Having consulted with our leaders across every divide, I hereby declare that I will run as a candidate for election to the State House of Assembly, come February 2023!

“I therefore seek the support of leaders and delegates to the primaries of my party, the New Nigeria Peoples Party, NNPP, for which I am a proud member under INEC Ward 7, Warri South Local Government Area. Let’s put the round peg in the round hole, for us all to see, achieve and enjoy the dividends of democracy!

“WHAT I WILL DO FOR MY CONSTITUENTS By God's Grace;

·         “My constituents, will have unfettered access to me, the programmes and activities of the state government.

·         “I will attend productive sittings without fail. Champion the courses of individuals, communities and the entire constituency. The era when no one speaks for us, will be over with my presence in the House.

·         “I will provide my constituents the linkage with Ministries, Departments and Agencies of the state government, for employment and business. Eg. Agric loans.

·         “The infrastructural needs of my people, will be of great importance, thereby attracting state presence in my constituency.

·         “Sponsoring of relevant Bills, is very fundamental to what I intend to achieve as a lawmaker, because it will improve the quality of life of my people.

·         “I will ensure my constituency projects are traceable, visible, valuable and useful to our people.

·         “I will use my good office, to ensure the protection of the rights to freedom and liberties of my constituents.

·         “Lastly, but certainly not the least, I'm a woman, one who knows how bias the society treat women, I'll try my best to eradicate all forms of injustice towards women, advocate education for the female gender and stop domestic violence, as it seems to be something rampant during this age, something which should have been long forgotten. 

“I plan to make my position here symbolic to all other women, ladies who sell themselves short, that anything is possible if they set their hearts right.

“Youth empowerment is key to my mind, so as to eradicate immoral acts and create employment opportunities.

“With my skills and contacts, I will request all the ward chairmen in our Party and Local Government Area Chairman to contribute to cooperative. This will assist each of the cooperator, to access quality grants and loans from state agencies and International organizations.

“I am passionate about whatever I do. I will not fail our people. My being elected will promote transparency and accountability in governance. It will bring progress and development to my constituency. My tenure will impact positively on the majority of our people. Together, we will change the narrative. I call on all our people to support me”.
