The Catholic Bishop of Warri Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. John Afareha has charged Catholics to use this year’s lenten season to grow spiritually.
The Bishop who spoke through the Parish Priest of Mother of The Redeemer Catholic Church, Airport Junction, Effurun, Delta, Rev. Fr. Clement Abobo, made the disclosure during the Ash Wednesday Mass held today, January 10.
Rev. Fr. Abodo advised parishioners to pray for the grace of God to learn in this season of lent so as to grow spiritually into Christian maturity.
The Catholic cleric noted that Catholic faithful are fond of praying to God for the miracle of receiving without praying for the miracle of giving, even as he advised that this year’s lent should be different from previous years in the sense that fasting should not only mortify and humble the flesh, but should be used to add value to the lives of others.
