A Catering Instructor with almost a decade experience as consultant trainer with the Skill Upgrading and Vocational Training Centre, SUVTC, under the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, Pori Vivian Eriegua, has called on non - governmental organizations, corporate bodies and community leaders, to sponsor persons desirous of acquiring skills, but lack the financial ability.
Pori, who has Mix and Bake Certificate, Trade Test 3, 2, 1 and Bachelor's Degree in Linguistic, made the call Friday January 13, during the formal conclusion of a three - month intensive training programme for caterers at the federal government owned Skill Upgrading and Vocational Training Centre, SUVTC in Warri, Delta State.

Whilst disclosing that out of the 20 trainees that started the programme, only seven successfully concluded it due to financial constraint, Pori, explained that a flexible payment of stipends of five thousand naira per trainee, was allowed because SUVTC already subsidized the hitherto huge cost implications.
The Instructor, who can be reached via mobile phone on 08037417890, stated that SUVTC, has accommodation for prospective trainees living outside Warri.
The Principal of Skill Upgrading and Vocational Training Centre, SUVTC, 3 Okere Road, Warri, Oge Emmanuel, noted during an interview that the centre offers training in catering, fashion design, electrical, welding and fabrication, computer studies, plumbing and pipe fitting.
According to him, the centre which runs Mondays through Fridays from 8 am to 4pm, has in - house trainers and outsource others.

He explained that certificate of training from the Federal Ministry of Labour as well as Trade Test, which is equivalent of Ordinary National Diploma, OND, are offered at successful completion of training.
