Breaking: Warri South Council prohibits protest in Warri indefinitely, writes Police to implement ban


 

Warri South Local Government Council in Delta State, has announced the immediate prohibition of all sorts of protests in Warri, urging the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Warri, to implement the ban.

 

The announcement by the Council, which was obtained from a Security Alert communicated to the Area Commander of the Nigeria Police Force, Warri on Monday February 6, was anchored on, “intelligence report at the disposal of the Hon. Chairman (of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi) detailing planned protest by some disgruntled groups within Warri Metropolis”. 

 

The security alert, signed by Secretary to Warri South Local Government, Mr. Joseph Oribioye, on behalf of Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area, Dr. Michael Tidi, noted: “The planned protest has no basis, rather it is politically motivated by the fifth columnists to destabilize the peace and economic activities of the city”.   

 

While insisting that, “any guise of protest either peaceful or otherwise is hereby prohibited in Warri South Local Government Area, with effect from Monday, 6th February, 2023”, Dr. Tidi, called on the Police Area Commander: “To deploy Security personnel to strategic locations within and around Warri city, to protect law abiding citizens, government facilities and critical infrastructure”.

 

The security alert, copied; the Director, DSS, Warri, the D.P.Os of Police ‘A' and ‘B’ Divisions, Warri,  the O/C, Nigeria Army, Alele Unit, Warri and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC.
