Delta Decides: APC fingers Senatorial candidate in alleged plot by PDP to tamper with BIVAS, hijack PVCs

The Delta State Chapter of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has fingered an unnamed PDP Senatorial candidate, in an alleged plot by the State chapter of Peoples Democratic Party, PDP “to rig the 2023 elections, through tampering with the Bimodal Voters Accreditation System (BIVAS) machines, hijacking of PVCs and using financial inducement on INEC officials”.

Fresh Angle International can authoritatively report that the alarm, which was raised by the opposition APC in Delta State, was contained in a petition addressed to the National Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC.

Highlights of the Press Briefing by the APC;

In the petition dated February, 9 2023 and signed by the Delta State Publicity Secretary of APC, E V. Onojeghuo Esq., the party alleged: “Already, a Senatorial Candidate of PDP is holed up at his LIFE CAMP, by LENTO ALUMINIUM, Abuja residence, where he holds nocturnal and clandestine meetings with INEC’s officials on how to subvert the operations of the BIVAS machines in his senatorial district and the state, in general, to confer an undue advantage on PDP. The unscrupulous INEC officials have opted to perfect the nefarious mission and requested the notorious Senatorial Candidate, who is strong member of Governor Okowa’s inner circles to come up with a list of individuals, who would be trained to achieve the subversive results.

“Available reports indicate that the Senatorial Candidate, notorious for handling similar pervasive assignments in aid of PDP Governors of the state for self-enrichment in the past is currently recruiting other candidates of PDP in the February 25 and March 11 general election, to raise funds to placate INEC’s officials and consequently benefit from the nefarious scheme. Banking on the wishful success of the self-help, the Senatorial Candidate has abandoned campaigns aimed at persuading eligible voters in his locality. For these people, the forthcoming elections would be business as usual, in which they planned to subvert the wishes of Deltans to elect their leaders in a free and fair contest”.

Onojeghuo, who made contents of the petition known Wednesday February 15, while addressing newsmen in Warri, Delta State, purported: “The plot is to input predetermined figures into the BIVAS machine that will be deployed to the polling units, before the commencement of voting on elections day has been perfected”.

He alleged that the already loaded figures, will be credited to the PDP to give the party a head start, even before the elections begin, adding: “A serving Commissioner in the cabinet of Governor Ifeanyi Okowa, has hijacked some PVCs meant for eligible voters of Ewu Ward 1 in Ughelli South Local Government Area, in order to hack into the INEC’s server and vote by proxy using these PVCs in connivance with unscrupulous corps members and some INEC staff.”

While stating that, “these are litanies of unambiguous impunity by top officials of the state government and PDP bigwigs to truncate the patriotic intentions of INEC to conduct a free and credible elections in Delta state”, Onojeghuo called on INEC, “to give all parties equal opportunity and a level playing ground in the elections and to institute immediate investigation into the petition to ensure that agents of destabilization do not have their way.”

The APC Publicity Secretary, said: “We have uncovered a sinister plot by Gov Ifeanyi Okowa and the People Democratic Party, PDP, to use APC branded vehicles to create mayhem and security breaches across the state with the aim of tarnishing the image and reputation of the APC.

“The branded vehicles made in semblance of colours and logos of the APC, are hidden in the premises of Premium Trust Bank, along Maryam Babaginda Way Asaba, which is believed to belong to Okowa family.”

He called on security agencies in the state to take all appropriate measures to forestall and crush the alleged nefarious intention of PDP.
