Police picks wounded robbery suspect, another found dead after gun duel

The Police in Delta State have arrested an armed robbery suspect identified as Abel Omagboruko, aged 27 of Igun village after he was shot by a patrol team during a gun duel at Oviere-Ovu Village in Ethiope East Local Government Area, Fresh Angle International can report.

The arrest of the suspect was sequel to an alleged robbery of one Nenegi Ayebainaemi, a female student of Novena University, Amai near Kwale, in Delta State.

The Victim was robbed at Guarantee Trust Bank, GTB, Abraka by three armed men who operated with a Toyota Camry Car with Reg. No. KPE 694 HB.

She was reportedly robbed of her bag containing N200, 000. 00 and mobile phone by the arrested suspect, Abel Omagboruko and the other two members of his gang at gun point.

According to a Statement released Thursday February 25 by the Police Public Relations Officer, Delta State Command, DSP Celestina Kalu, on receipt of information regarding the robbery incident, Police at Abraka Division mobilized patrol team, which gave the hoodlums a hot pursuit up to Oviere-Ovu Village along the Eku-Warri Road.

The statement revealed that on getting to the Oviere-Ovu Village, the suspects alighted from their Toyota Camry Car, ran into the bush and reportedly engaged the patrol team in a gun duel. It was in the process, Abel Omagboruko was shot and arrested, while others escaped with bullet wound.

Our Correspondent reports that it was during combing of the bush with the local vigilante men, the corpse of one Oke, surname unknown was found. The said Oke was identified by the arrested suspect and the victim, Nenegi Ayebainaemi allegedly identified the dead hoodlum and the one apprehended.

Items recovered from the suspects are one cut-to-size double barrel gun, the victim’s bag, phone, N42, 000. 00  and the Toyota Camry car used in the operation by the 3-man gang.
