The Olu of Warri, Ogiame Ikenwoli has assured Ilaje people living in Ugborodo, Warri South-West Local Government Area, Delta State of adequate benefit from Warri Kingdom at all times.
Our Correspondent reports that the Monarch gave the assurance Wednesday March 9 at his Palace in Warri when Ilaje communities in Itsekiri land of Ugborodo paid him homage.
The First Class Monarch commended the Ilaje people in Itsekiri homeland for their support as well as loyalty to Warri Kingdom over the years and praised them for living peacefully with their host community.
In his remark, Chief Bowoto Omoboye Samuel who spoke on behalf of the seven Ilaje communities, felicitated with the Olu on his ascension to the respected throne of Warri Kingdom and lauded his good leadership quality, just as he prayed God to grant the Olu many more years, wisdom and peaceful reign on the throne.
Public Relations Officer of the Seven Ilaje Communities’ Trust, Mr. Adesuyi Adewole in an interview shortly after the visit, explained that the decision to pay homage to the Olu of Warri was to underscore their loyalty to the Monarch.
Mr. Adewole appealed to Delta State Government to give the needed recognition to Ilages living in Ugborodo land as one of the ethnic groups in Delta State haven lived in Escravos for the past 200 years.
The seven Ilaje communities in Ugborodo are Ilesanmi, Egbokuta, Ago-Ilaje, Agodo, Costain, Ogo-Oluwayo and Ogidigben Seashore.
