Justices of Peace (JPs) across Nigeria, have been charged to ensure justice prevail always in matters brought before them.

Fresh Angle International can report that Captain Dave Omatseye, handed down the charge shortly after his conferment as a Justice of Peace, by the Chief Judge of Delta State, Hon. Justice Theresa Diai.

He was among 50 others conferred with the honour at the High Court 1, Warri, Delta State on Wednesday, May 17.

He said: "I am excited. It's an honour, a recognition. It is a call to service. It is like a voluntary service in the sense that we are to ensure peace and justice.

"This is borne out of the alternative dispute resolution. Usually, there will be disputes, among the JPs, you can be called upon to settle matters with view of finding the truth and facts to ensure peace in our society.

"It is to ensure integrity when we handle issues the way it is expected. With that we will be seen as being serious and up to date as far as the assignment is concerned".

Speaking on the sidelines, a relative, Alfred Toritsemotse, said the award presented was well-deserved, Omatseye having served judiciously in various capacities, community-wise and professionally.
