The fight against crude oil theft and oil pipeline vandalism in the Niger Delta, received a major boost on Monday 19th, June following an illegal operation by oil bunkers foiled by operatives of Abicity Security, a contractor to NPDC/Splat Joint Venture.
Acting on intelligence, operatives of the Security outfit in collaboration with the Nigerian Army stationed at the Ubagboro along the Amokpe Escravos Pipeline (AEP) Delta State, had swung into action to uncover the operation being perpetuated by illegal oil bunkers.
While the saboteurs had already left the location where the operation was carried out around Kilometres 42, in Amokpe Escravos Pipeline, serious manhunt by the security operatives, lead to the interception of the locally made boats popularly called ‘Cotonou Boats’ laden with the stolen crude opposite the Koko River and was set ablaze while the personnels in the boats fled into the creeks.
Speaking in an interview, one of the operatives of Abicity Security, Agbonekuya Agbonekuya, said the resolve of Abicity in ridding the Niger Delta of illegal oil bunkers and providing adequate security for crude oil pipelines in their mandate areas, in collaboration with the Army and other security agencies in the Country is unwavering.
While noting that they are committed to doing their best to help the President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu achieve his vision of increased oil output in the Country, he assured the NPDC/Seplat JV that with continuous collaboration and support the era of brazen oil theft in the Country was coming to an end.
