There was mild drama few minutes past 5:00pm Wednesday July 5, as a tricycle conveying illegally refined diesel, burst into flame at the popular Shaguolo axis, about a hundred meters to the main gate of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company, WRPC in Delta State.
Our Principal Correspondent, who ran into the scene, reports that the tricycle which likely came from the Jeddo/Ughoton axis in Okpe Local Government Area of the state, was totally burnt in the full glare of persons around (Including security agents at the gate of WRPC) as the tricycle rider allegedly scampered for safety, apparently to ward-off mob action. An eyewitness, however claimed that tricycle rider was rushed to the hospital, after sustaining sone degree of burns.
Though it could not be ascertained as at the time of this report, what may have led to the inferno, some eyewitnesses alleged that droppings of the illegally refined diesel, leaked into the heated engine of the tricycle, thus igniting the flame.
