The age-long cultural ties between Yoruba of South-West, Nigeria and Itsekiri in Delta State was reignited Saturday July 14 and 21 when former Miss Dupe Asare of the family of Pius Asare of Oka-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area, Ondo State was joined in marriage to Emiko Abigor of Dale-Oketa/Okere, Warri North and Warri South Local Government Areas respectively.
Our Senior Correspondent, Matthew Omonigho who captured the events in exclusive photos, reports that the traditional marriage which held at Idofin, Oka-Akoko in Akoko South West Local Government Area, Ondo State saw the rich culture of the Yoruba displayed in colourful fashion, as the bride’s in-laws from Delta State performed the traditional marriage rites.
The grandeur ceremony was rounded off Saturday July 21 with marriage registry at Warri South Council Secretariat as well as a lavish reception at Ojoye Eyewuoma Hall, Esisi Road, Warri-Delta State.
