NSCDC parades 38-year old suspect for vandalizing transformer

The Kogi State Command, Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, has paraded one Sunday Yomi Komolafe, aged 38-year for allegedly vandalizing transformer in Isanlu, Yagba East Local Government Area of the State.

 

Parading the suspect on Wednesday, the Kogi State Commandant of NSCDC Ahmad Ghandi Ahmad told journalists that, the suspect was caught by men of of vigilante group while vandalising the armoured cable of the transformer supplying electricity to Amuro Community and seven other communities in Mopa-Muro Local area of the state.

 

He said upon the suspect arrest by vigilantes, before he was transferred to the NSCDC, the suspect made confessional statement to committing the crime and would be charged to Court upon completion of investigation.

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that the Commandant appealed for more collaboration with the public on information that could rid the State of criminal elements as the Command intensify more synergy with Sister Agencies to protect critical national infrastructure as part of its core mandate.

 

He however, warned Youths in Kogi State against engaging in criminal activities.

 

Speaking in an interview, the suspect, Sunday Yomi Komolafe, a motorcycle mechanic who confessed to the crime pleaded for leniency stressing that he acted alone and intend selling the vandalised materials to scavengers.

 

He said the 35 litre of petrol in plastic containers found with him were to be used to clean up his hands after cutting the cables.
