What would have been a disastrous explosion in the densely populated Ekurede Itsekiri Community, Warri, was averted this morning, Tuesday November 14, when neighbours rushed to a provision shop, about 15meters to Ogiame Primary School, to put out a raging flame, caused by the carelessness of an unnamed teenager.
Our Principal Correspondent, who dashed to the scene, following alarm raised by emergency responders, reports that the billowing smoke started at about 9:00am, as a result of neglect by the teenager.
Some of the emergency responders, braved into the shop and put out the camp gas, preventing it from explosion, which would have affected adjoining shops and residential buildings.
Mrs. Tosan Aghedo, speaking to Our Principal Correspondent
One of the responders, Mrs. Tosan Aghedo, told Fresh Angle International that the incident was noticed early enough in the shop, which was locked, saying they had to broke into the shop to avert disaster.
