The Vice-Chancellor, Ignatius Ajuru University of Education IAUE, Port-Harcourt, Prof. Okey Onuchukwu, has admonished the newly admitted Masters’ Students of the institution to be good ambassadors by protecting and promoting image of the school. 

 

Our Senior Roving Correspondent, reports that Prof. Okey, who was represented by Prof. Chibuzor Nnwabueze, gave the charge, today, Tuesday November 14, at College of Education, Warri main auditorium, while speaking during the 2023/2024 orientation programme for Masters’ students of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, in affiliation with College of Education Warri, Delta State. 

 

Whilst urging the students to refrain from speaking ill about the institution that builds them, Prof. Okey, advised them to have self-respect, humility and transparency in their conduct, saying, “there should be a difference between you and those on the street.”

The University Don, stated that IAUE have zero tolerance for corruption, examination malpractice and plagiarism.

 

“The institution has the right to withdraw your certificates if any student is found guilty of plagiarism”, he warned.

He commended College of Education Warri, for their capacity and influence in education in Nigeria, in the context of human development. 

 

The Provost of College of Education Warri, COEWA, Dr. Dickson Oyovwi, stated that the second set of the Masters’ programme had over 150 students against 130 students in the first set. “We have over 150 students in this second set, due to well-suited structure of the curriculum”, Dr. Oyovwi, revealed.

 

He advised students to work hard and take their studies seriously, adding: “The programme is one of the best, for those who want to get their degrees at the stipulated time of 18 months, you have to work hard and follow the directives of the school schedule.”

The Director of the IAUE in College of Education Warri, Dr. Samuel Eshenake in his lecture on “Registration, Lectures, Examinations and Project Writing”, stated that students need register and do proper documentation in order to get matriculation numbers,” saying, “without this documentation, you are not yet our student.” 

 

Mr. Agbatu Daniel Onyekachukwu, a student of Guidance and Counseling on behalf of the Masters’ students, thanked the VC of IAUE for organizing the orientation programme for them, assuring that they will adhere to all information given to them.
