Thugs allegedly loyal to the Social Democratic Party, SDP earlier today, Wednesday November 29, stormed the Kogi State Headquarters of the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, in Lokoja, chanting war songs and ready to cause mayhem in the state capital.
The masked thugs numbering over 100, were allegedly spotted with caps and branded T shirts of SDP Governorship Candidate, Muritala Ajaka, as they made efforts to access the main gate of the Commission.
Fresh Angle International, gathered that security operatives, mostly policemen in uniforms, barricaded the road leading to Police Office Junction, connecting the INEC Office.
The security operatives, reportedly warned the thugs not to come close to the INEC office.
As at 1.40pm when this report was published, the situation around the popular Post Office area, known for commercial activities, was becoming tense as many business owners around the area took their goods home for fear of vandalism by the thugs.
One of the traders, a Hausa man, Mallam Mohammed Sanni, told Newsmen that at about 9am today, some young persons in their numbers wearing SDP face cap with Muri's name, stormed the Post Office junction and asked them (the traders) to move away or their goods would be destroyed.
Sanni, said since they didn't have the strength to confront them, they (the traders) had to return home with their items.
He appealed to the government and security agencies in the state to do the needful to enable return to their goods to their business.
