Chairman of Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State, Dr Michael Tidi, has said that the introduction of the Bimodal Voter Accreditation System (BIVAS) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has brought sanity to Nigeria's electoral system.
He said that apart from solving the challenges of ballot box snatching, the BIVAS have also reorganized the electoral system as the people now have more trust in the electoral system.
Tidi spoke on Tuesday at the Warri South Local Government Lodge, Warri when he played host to leaders of the Ilaje community in Warri and environs.
While urging the Ilaje community to concentrate on canvassing support for the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during electioneering periods, the Warri South Council boss promised to recognize the Ilaje community and give the needed support.
Tidi said that during previous elections the party went around the council area to solicit support from everybody, adding that the Ilaje community was also part of the people who have been supporting them.

"Over the years lessons have been learnt and we know that any leader that used to undermine you does so at his peril. We need the support of everyone to move forward," Tidi said.
Earlier, Barr Samuel Ebiwanno, who spoke on behalf of the Ilaje community commended Dr Michael Tidi for the good work he has been doing for the council. He marveled at the state-of-the-art facilities he saw at the Warri South Local Government Lodge, saying that this was the first of its kind in the history of the country.

He said that they decided to pay him the courtesy visit to let him know that they are with him and they want to be part of his administration.
"We want to appeal to you that we want to be properly inculcated into the system. We the Ilaje people want to be represented in this council. We want to be part of the system so that when the story of the good things you are doing in the council is being told, we will be part of it," Ebiwanno said.
