The Eldest Man of Olodi Family in Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Pa. Asangbuwa Karien Eboh, says the dissolution of All Youth Organisations/ Development Movement in Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, Warri, by the Dr. Michael Tidi led administration of Warri South Local Government Area, averted crisis in Okere-Urhobo kingdom.

Our Principal Correspondent, reports that Pa Karien Eboh, made the declaration, Wednesday December 6 at Okere-Urhobo Kingdom Town Hall, Otor-Orere in Warri South Local Government Area, during a press briefing.

Pa Karien Eboh, spoke through the Oghwuvwie-rode (Big Mediator) of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom/Head of Okumagba Family in Warri South Local Government Area, Chief Bright Okumagba.

According to Pa, Eboh, the Orosuen of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, His Royal Majesty, Ogheneochuko Eyekpimi, has disregarded constitution of the Kingdom, allegedly refusing to listen to Chiefs and elders of the Kingdom, on how election of people into different positions in the kingdom, ought to be, in-line with the constitution.

He further accused the Monarch of amending constitution of the youth body of Okere-Urhobo Kingdom, without consulting The Orosuen-In-Council, saying the Orosuen unilaterally decided those to be elected into different positions, contrary to the constitution of the Kingdom.

Flanked by Chief Gideon Okumagba,  Chief Jude Onovughe Igherebuo, Oghwuvwie of Olodi Community, Ekuremu Wisdom, Chief Alice Atevure and former President of Okere-Urhobo Youth Development Movement, Cyril Eboh in their resolution, the Eldest man, called on government, royal fathers and other critical stakeholders, to urgently call His Royal Majesty, Ogheneochuko Eyekpimi to order.

Fresh Angle International, can report that Pa. Blankson Ekuremu, Chief Atigolo Stanley, Mama Christiana Obaseki, Chief Obadaejire Okumagba, Mr. Roland Atigolo and Elder John Atigolo, were among other Olodi descendants, present during the press conference.

Below is excerpts of the resolution reached by the Olodi Family as read by Chief Bright Okumagba:

"The recent selection process to constitute the Okere Youth Government, appears ill-advised and not in line with the Constitutional procedure, precedence and traditional provision.

"We observed a purported amendment of the constitution, without due process and ratification of the people.

"The new premise of introducing rotational office holding into our constitution, negates a fundamental principle of the kingdom law, that states that anyone who will hold Office in the kingdom, must be capable/ suitable, and never based on rotation for very obvious reasons like practiced in Nigeria, Delta State or Warri South Local Government.

"This has been the position for over 60 years. A guiding accepted principle that has been used all these years, based on rules that are never discussed in the open. The leadership of the various offices, composition in these past 60 years is evident.

"All the Kings that have ruled so far, are all from the Olodi Branch. There was a time the Kings and the Ototas, were all from the Olodi. It was not forced on the other families. There must be a reason for this precedence. Our forebears were not ignorant.

"The foresight of our ancestors or founding fathers of this understanding, cannot be over-emphasized. This is also evident in the composition of original land ownership before the amalgamation into a layout scheme.

"The silence in the use of rotation of offices in Nigeria, Delta State, Warri Local governments are clear reference points to the rationale for not documenting rotational offices in constitutions.

"Traditional institutions are also not wired to rely on rotation as the gods or ancestors consider the persons not the segments they belong to, when choosing leaders.

"Even the current traditional Chieftaincy listing shows the lack of such considerations. As there are current chiefs occupying positions they are not entitled to hold.

1.The king today is Ighogbadu

2. Otota (Makro)

3. Olotu (Ighogbadu)

.

.

"Our precedence clearly shows rotation has never been part of our history.

We are therefore of the opinion that a total proper reconsideration of the actions taken on the above issue, be reviewed and amended.

"A lot has happened in this short time that could lead to a breakdown of peace and order, if not addressed. A delegation of the Olodi Chiefs met the Orosuen twice on this same issue, without any due consideration. We are therefore constrained to present our position again for consideration. Meanwhile, pending the resolution of the above.

"The Olodi Family met and resolved as follows;

1. Olodi Family Youth, must restrain from any act of violence or retaliation of the attack on them, pending the resolution of the impasse/ crisis so as not to breach the peace in the kingdom.

2) Pending the resolution of the constitution and traditional known precedence in the composition of offices in the kingdom now being breached, all Olodi Chiefs and descendants are to cease from participating in all Kingdom activities forthwith.

3. Constitute the Olodi Youth Development Government as already Constituted by the Ighogbadu and Oki Youths.”
