The Kogi State Commissioner For Solid Minerals and Natural Resources, Engr. Bashiru Gegu has bagged a prestigious award from Nigeria Post newspaper in his Country home Gegu Beki on Thursday.
Gegu, who was highly elated for the recognition given to him by the Kogi State based newspaper noted that, his best is yet to come for the people of Kogi State and that of his Local Government.
While noting that politics is geared towards serving humanity, the Solid Minerals Commissioner in Kogi State noted that, he remains speechless, particularly that his modest contributions was noticed from afar by key stakeholders within and outside the State.
Recalled that Engr. Bashiru Gegu was a recipient of the Nigerian Post award for service to humanity held on the 14th December, 2023. The award is in recognition of his pivotal roles in uplifting Kogi LGA as well as in human empowerment.
According to Engr. Gegu, " if I have the power, capacity, I will do more for the people of Kogi LGA".
" The essence of living, for me, is to help humanity. This has been my driving force in politics ".
"Without Gov. Yahaya Bello, this award will not have been made possible. I thank God and Gov. Bello for discovering me and giving me the opportunity to serve".
Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that Gegu dedicated the award presented to him to God, Governor Yahaya Bello of Kogi State and the leaders and people of Kogi Local Government Area, adding that, they are the secret behind his success, just as he promised to do more in the coming years.
He further thanked his wives Hajia Maimunat and Rukayat Bashiru Gegu for supporting his aspirations, adding that, Hon. Saidu Akawu Salihu, and other leaders of the area, including the Chairman of APC in the Local Government contributed immensely in his political ambition.
Earlier in his remarks, Abu Michael, Editor in Chief, The Nigerian Post, said Engr. Gegu has proven to be an outstanding leader who keeps standing tall for his people.
Abu described his efforts in attracting infrastructure as well as human empowerment for the people as unequalled by political leaders in the history of politics of Kogi Local Government Area.
