Gov. Bello conferred with  fellowship of Kogi Polytechnic, hails Rector’s unprecedented achievement


Governor Yahaya Bello, has been conferred with fellowship of the Kogi State Polytechnic for his remarkable achievement in infrastructure and in human capital development across the State.

 

The Governor Bello, who was honoured on Saturday in Lokoja during the 4th combined convocation of Kogi State Polytechnic Lokoja lauded the Rector of the institution Dr Salisu Usman Ogbo for transforming the Polytechnic to one of the best in the world.

 

 

Our Kogi State Correspondent, reports that others deserving recipient includes; Alhaji Isa Ozi Salami, OFR, Barrister Umoru Jimoh, Chairman of IHS (Nigeria) Limited, Professor Idris M. Bugaje, Executive Secretary of NBTE, and Barrister Moses Okezie-Okafor, the DG Research and Development, Kogi State, acknowledged for his diligent contributions to the New Direction administration.

 

While noting that the institution is worthy of emulation across the world, the highly elated Governor who observed massive infrastructural projects, Seren academic environment for learning and graduands worthy in character and in learning said" I'm proud of you. I'm indeed very proud of you. I will forever be proud of you for this remarkable achievement and following my footprint for a better Kogi State.

 

The Governor, commended TETFUND, other donor and financial agencies for their contributions to the repositioning of the State Polytechnic, adding that, he enjoyed the support given to his administration by the Governing Council, Staff and Students of the Polytechnic.

 

According to the Governor, part his achievements is evidence in the repositioning of the State Polytechnic, stressing that, he would be leaving the Polytechnic better than he met it.

 

Continuing, Bello said: "My achievements can be attested where the State Polytechnic was before my assumption of office, where it is now and what we have repositioned it for the future".

 

"We have taken time to look into the education Sector of our people. We made education a top priority in our thematic agenda".

 

"We not only improved on the infrastructure and learning in our tertiary institutions, but also expanded our educational institution so that our children will not travel far to seek for knowledge within four years of our second term administration".

 

He appreciated the people of Kogi State for voting overwhelmingly for the Governor elect Alhaji Usman Ahmed Ododo assuring them that, he will build and take the achievements made by his administration to the next level.

 

 

Earlier in his remarks, the Rector of Kogi State Polytechnic Dr. Salisu Usman Ogbo, congratulated Alhaji Usman Ododo for emerging victorious at the polls, stressing that, his emergence is for the unity and development of the State.

 

The Rector, who thanked Governor Bello for finding him worthy to serve in his government intimated the Polytechnic visitor that, he used his three points agenda of Reform, Restore and Repair, to return the lost glory of the Polytechnic.

 

He maintained that, the institution has transformed to the one that is committed to graduating students who are employers of labour in the country.

 

Also speaking, the Chairman Governing Council of the institution Prof. Yakubu Isa said the Polytechnic will continue to prioritize academic and personal development of students.

 

He promised that the Polytechnic will strive to provide the needed tools and resources for students to continue to succeed in Nigeria.

 

He commended the Kogi State State Government and the Tertiary Education Trust Funds for the iconic infrastructure development that has been witnessed in the institution under the administration of Governor Yahaya Bello. 

 

 

A total One hundred and forty-five (145) students achieved academic distinction at the National Diploma (ND) level, while One hundred and four (104) excelled at the Higher National Diploma (HND) level.

 

A grand total of Seven thousand, six hundred and fifty-three (7,653) students graduated with National Diploma (ND), showcasing their prowess across various programs.

 

Additionally, Four thousand, four hundred and twenty-seven (4,427) students celebrated their Higher National Diploma (HND) graduation in diverse disciplines.
