The Kogi State House of Assembly has tasked Nigeria Youths to be more innovative and keep breaking records for the Country among comity of nations.
Our Kogi Correspondent reports that the member representing Ajaokuta State Constituency, Hon. Abu Onoru-Oiza Jibrin, disclosed this at the floor of the house on Wednesday while drawing the attention of his colleagues to one
Abdulfattah El-Okene who lives in Ganaja village for breaking the Guiness World Record having undertaken about 142hrs of ironing marathon defeating the holder of the title Gareth Sanders who had 100hours.
Hon. Jibrin, who noted that leaders in the Country should encourage Youths that are making the Country proud and not engage them in thuggery, ballot box snatching, and other social vices said the records broken by the Kogi indigenes remains a testimony that all hope is not lost for Nigeria as a nation.
While intimating the house that the Kogi indigene who had wanted to meet 200hours could no longer meet up with the ironing marathon due to health to b
, the Ajaokuta lawmaker described his move as astonishing, commendable and acceptable.
"This is really astonishing and acceptable. The people of Ajaokuta Local Government and the entire people of Kogi State are indeed amazed with this development. What he is done is simply bringing Kogi State in a positive light. Activities such as this are being done in the cities like Abuja, Kaduna, Lagos but now Kogi State will be mentioned among comity of record breaking.
"The present state is that the young Man has broken the record. The record initially was a 100hrs. Our son hit that two days ago and began creating a new record. I am pleased to inform the house that he added 42 hours to make him world record holder of 142 hours as we speak. Though, he has a target of 200 hours, unfortunately for reasons such as health, as advised by his team that he should stand down when he got to 142hours. It is record breaking at our bus top.
"As members of the Kogi State House of Assembly, we will always emphacized the need for youths out there to advertise themselves to the world for good and not for bad. Gone where the days when youths used to be known for thuggery and many other social vices. I for one has never sponsored thugs to win election.
" Through out my campaign till now, I won election through the legitimate process. So, it time to keep telling the masses from the on set to support dreams and not to break dreams. As lawmakers, we don't want to be known where Youths are in Prisons, arrested or messed up in the society. We must keep promoting innovations and support those who breaks record for our State and Nigeria as a nation" he stated.
Meanwhile, the Kogi State House of Assembly on Wednesday adopted reports of three bills considered by various committees for further legislative action.
The bills adopted by members of eight Assembly are a bill for a law to establish the Kogi State meat hygiene and inspection and other matters connected therewith law 2024, bill for a law to provide for the establishment of the Kogi State Social investment programme Agency and other matters connected therewith, 2024 and a bill for a law for the establishment of Kogi State Senior Education Board and other matters connected therewith, 2024.
